A single written, performed and released by an Elgin teenager to help raise funding for cancer research has rocketed back into the charts.
Three weeks ago ‘Never be Alone’ was pre-released on iTunes and stormed up the charts on the back of pre-sales – now the official release of the touching song on Sunday has seen it back into the top 50.
Former Elgin Academy pupil Lilian MacDonald caused a social media firestorm when insideMoray published the story of how she had written the song as a tribute her boyfriend Keiran, who is currently in remission after contracting leukaemia.
When the song was listed on iTunes at the end of April pre-sales saw it drive Lilian to the top of the singer/songwriter chart, while the song itself moved into the top 50.
Following agonising weeks of waiting for it’s official release Lilian was last night celebrating as within hours of being made available for download the track again moved up the charts, putting Lilian back to No.2 in the songwriters chart and on the verge of a return to the Top 50 in the general chart.
”I can’t believe I’m saying this already, but it’s been just 30 minutes since the release and I’m currently at 51,” a delighted Lilian said last night, adding: “I have also reached No2 in the singer/songwriter chart – just below Ed Sheeran’s new song.”
‘Never be Alone’ can be downloaded at download on iTunes while donations to her chosen charity can be made at http://leukaemialymphomaresearch.org.uk/.
