High winds has brought traffic in some parts of Moray to a halt today with Moray Council workmen on hand to get roads reopened as quickly as possible.
The High Street at South College Street in Elgin has been closed when a tree close to the new Council headquarters building came down.
Meanwhile the road linking the A96 to Elginshill of Burmuckity was also totally blocked when a tree came down earlier today.
Forecasters say that more gales and heavy raid could be set to hit the region as a Met Office ‘be aware’ warning remains in force throughout the north east.
Gusts of over 60mph are being predicted with a spokesman saying: “It will be pretty miserable – there could be surface water flooding and the potential for some river flooding.”
Winds are expected to increase from the south-east although the brunt of these conditions are expected in Aberdeenshire.
