Man suffers burns to head as blaze destroys mobile home

A 50-year-old man ended up in hospital early on Wednesday morning after a fire destroyed his mobile caravan in Keith.

Firefighters from the Keith and Fochabers stations were called to the blaze at the caravan in a field near Ashdrew Pad at around 5.30am.

It is believed the man was the only occupant at the time of the blaze. He managed to escape from the mobile home but had suffered burns to his head.

An ambulance attending the scene took him to the Jubilee Hospital in Huntly for treatment as firefighters brought the blaze under control.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service said that a hose reel jet and breathing apparatus were used to bring the fire under control by 6.15am.
