Takeover bid gossip for leading Moray business dismissed

Royce Clark – no takeover move

The owner of a leading Moray store has moved quickly to dismiss speculation that they were the subject of a takeover bid by a national rival.

Lossiemouth-based Grampian Furnishers boss Royce Clark said that he was concerned with talk that moves were imminent and the store, which is celebrating its 40th year in business, was on the verge of a takeover.

The family owned furnishing business was last year looking at expansion to larger premises in Elgin but shelved these plans when talks broke down, with Mr Clark assuring customers that the business would remain in Lossiemouth for the time being.

Speaking of the latest speculation he said: “I honestly do not know where these rumours are coming from but they could not be further from the truth as we have received no approaches and certainly would not welcome any.

“Grampian Furnishers has been working very hard at improving our business and it has grown year on year throughout the recession.

“Last year alone we enjoyed a 13% increase in sales so I can say with 100% certainty we are not selling up – quite the opposite, as 2015 will be a very exciting year for the business.”
