A MORAY DRIVER ended up in jail after building up a string of motoring convictions before being caught behind the wheel while banned and without a licence or insurance.
Christopher Smith from Blackmuir Cottages in Keith had already been banned from driving until 2019 when he took a car belonging to a friend to an Aberdeen garage for petrol on April 26.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told on Friday that Smith, 25, had a significant criminal record including several driving convictions, including one for drink-driving.
After Smith admitted the latest offence Sheriff Kenneth Stewart imposed a nine-month jail sentence.
Smith was also disqualified from driving for seven years.
