ENCOURAGING SPORTING ACTIVITY amongst young and old alike in Moray has been a proven path to better and healthier lifestyles – now a new man is at the helm to offer guidance and assistance.

Moray’s new Community Sports Hub Officer will not be a man to mess with either, coming as he does from a Greco Roman Wrestling background – and the first task for people in Moray to come to grips with will be his name, Dimitris Chrysanthakopoulos – thankfully, he is not averse to the use of a shorter version Dim Chris.

Dimitris has swapped Athens for Moray as he takes over from Craig Barron, who has moved on to pastures new having given up fine service to Moray by creating several new community sports hubs around the region.

With a work experience that has included operation roles in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games and the World Championships, Dimitris is bringing a wealth of international experience to Moray.

He has also held coaching roles in sports facilities and clubs and holds an MSc in Sport and Recreation Business Management from the University of Edinburgh.

Information on the Moray Community Sports Hub can be found online while Dimitris can be contacted by email at dimitris.chrysanthakopoulos@moray.gov.uk.
