ELGIN LINK ROAD objectors will be given an opportunity to view amended proposals for the controversial plan this week.
Refusal of the original planning application caused serious divisions in the local authority a year ago – now the results of a workshop study has produced new proposals for the Western Link Road.
These will be presented to people who had spoken out against the development at the original planning hearing, with external consultants, Jacobs, having revised the design. In addition a consultancy with specialist knowledge of the Scottish Government’s Designing Streets guidelines has also reviewed the proposed changes.
It is hoped that the resulting ammendments will ensure the best fit with the Designing Streets philosophy.
The changes will be presented at a meeting on Tuesday. Following that the project will be the subject of a report to the council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee this month, setting out details of the extra costs associated both with the revised design and the separation of the project from the work needed for the new Elgin High School access road.
If the committee agrees to continue its support a new planning application will be submitted later in the year.
