FIRST YEAR PUPILS at a Moray secondary school have taken to the stage in an attempt to warn young people about the dangers of drugs.

The pupils at Milne’s High School in Fochabers have produced the rock musical ‘Hooked’ that demonstrates the consequences of substance abuse.

Around 70 pupils from Milne’s, Lhanbryde and Mosstodloch primary schools attended the performance depicting a young man, Stevie, who is fighting a personal battle against his use of drugs.

The show has been staged by the High School librarian, Kelly Dawson, and stars pupil Roddy Manson in the main role. Ms Dawson said: “The primary school children who watched got a lot from the show as did the first year pupils who put it together.

“They have been looking into various aspects of drug abuse and the show is packed full of facts about the effects drugs can have.”

Plans are being laid for the primary seven pupils who attended the performance to stage the production themselves next year.
