Information sought over incidents in Elgin and Forres

Police appeal after attempted robbery in New Elgin area and assault just off Forres High Street

A MALE BICYCLE rider demanded money from a woman on a New Elgin footpath before making off in the direction of Edgar Road.

Police are seeking information on the incident that happened at around 6.20pm on Thursday evening.

The young male is described as being around 15-years-old, white and of slim build. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

Investigating officer DC Amanda Campbell said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in The Wards or Edgar Road areas around the time of this crime.

“It is believed that there were runners in the area a short time prior to the incident and we would be keep to speak with them.”

Meanwhile police in Forres have issued an appeal  for witnesses to an incident where a 22-year-old man was assaulted on Bank Lane in the town.

That incident happened at around 6.35pm on Friday, December 4, with the suspect being described as around 20 years-of-age, 6ft 1in tall and of skinny build with short light brown hair.  He was wearing a white hooded top with print on the front and his hood was up and he wore dark trousers and shoes.

A second man is also being sought in connection with this incident, described as being around 20-years-old, 5ft 2in tall and also of kinny build.  He was wearing a blue cross-hatch label hoodie and his hood was also up.  He was wearing khaki trousers and black trainers.

Case officer is Constable Jamie Walker, who said: “The assault happened on a quieter street just off Forres High Street and the males responsible made their way onto the High Street shortly afterwards which would have been busy at this time of the evening.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or anyone who may be able to identify those responsible.”
