ONE SIMPLE IDEA said everything for the real message of Christmas – nobody should be alone, and one Moray group gathered their forces to ensure that was the case.

Representing hundreds over organisations in the region – all with the same aim of creating a better Moray – tsiMORAY hosted a very special Christmas Lunch at which they invited anyone who would otherwise and for whatever reason be alone on the big day.

The result was an army of volunteers acting as chauffeurs, cooks, waiting staff – or just pleasant hosts there for a chat. By the time everyone had their fill of Turkey and all the trimmings, it was smiles all around as the day was declared an overwhelming success.

“We’d love to thank everyone for coming, all the amazing volunteers for their help with the prep, picking people up and with the delivery of the day,” a tsiMORAY spokeswoman said via the organisation’s Facebook page.

She added: “It’s been amazing – there were plenty of smiles, laughter and new friends made today. Merry Christmas everyone – and the same time next year!”

The lunch, held this year in the Lhanbryde Community Centre, was the latest in a series held on Christmas Day that began when funding was obtained by Age Scotland to host a lunch for people over 60.

It has since been expanded to all regardless of age, with several community groups donating to the cause and ensuring it was a day to remember.
