THE ELGIN BRANCH of a national opticians have seen their way to backing the development of Rugby through a £1000 sponsorship deal.

For the second year in a row Specsavers in Elgin are supporting the ‘mini’ and ‘micro’ teams at Moray Rugby Club – providing new kits for the young players that will feature the iconic green and white logo.

The club are currently competing in the RBS Caledonia Regional League division two – but have greater ambitions, and these will be achieved through the development of their younger team

Peter Taylor, store director of Specsavers in Elgin, said: “We are always keen to support local organisations and with the team being so popular in the area we are delighted to be their chosen sponsor for another season.

“It’s great that we are able to help the youth teams of the club this year and we hope lots of youngsters will take up the sport. We are proud to support Moray Rugby Club and all the team at Specsavers Elgin wish them the best of luck for a successful season.”

Mark Dunscombe, from Moray Rugby Club, said: “Established in 1923 Moray Rugby Club has a senior squad and a thriving youth section with eight midi and mini squads that cater for all ages from eight to 18 years old, plus a vast network of qualified coaches.

“Sponsorship is an integral part of our club, we need sponsorship money to enable us to continue providing rugby facilities open to all in the Moray area.

“Specsavers have very kindly sponsored us again this season, without this continued sponsorship it would be impossible to provide suitable facilities and equipment for the players, and I would wish to thank them from everyone at Moray Rugby.”
