Council payment systems shutting down for 24 hours

AS THE FURORE over a proposed Council Tax increase rages around Moray, the local authority has revealed that for at least 24 hours next week no Council payments can be made whatsoever.

The cause according to a statement released yesterday is that payment systems are undergoing an upgrade.

No payments can be made by any method from 1pm on Monday, January 18 and 1pm the following day, the statement said.

It added: “This applies to payments using debit and credit cards, online payments and telephone payments and applies to all payments, including council tax and rents.

“The temporary unavailability will enable the payment systems to be ungraded to ensure continued payment security and Moray Council apologises for any inconvenience to customers.”
