Community Funding Seminar to be held in Elgin

THE MOST DIFFICULT task facing any community organisation in Moray is funding – all the more important at a time when assistance from Moray Council is so difficult to secure.

Recognising that the local authority has jointly organised with Business Gateway a seminar at which organisations with information on funding opportunities will be on hand to offer assistance.

Key funding sources including the Big Lottery, Sportscotland, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Ena and Gordon Baxter Foundation are scheduled to attend the seminar at Elgin Town Hall on Thursday, May 12.

Also present will be Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland, Foundations Scotland and Creative Scotland, while the guest speak will be fundraising consultant David Burgess.

Pointing to the importance of project being run by local community organisations, Councillor John Cowe, chair of the economic development and infrastructure services committee, said that the seminar provided an “excellent opportunity” to learn more from key funders.

He added: “They will be able to guide you in the right direction about which funding programme best suits your project and how to create a strong and successful application. It also gives you the perfect chance to meet like-minded colleagues to share ideas and experiences.”

Groups and organisations are advised to book a place at the seminar to avoid disappointment.
