RAIDERS HAVE STRUCK at a Moray beachfront bar – escaping with around £5000 after stealing the safe.

Police have appealed for anyone who many have seen suspicious activity in Lossiemouth overnight on Monday, when the thieves made off with the safe from the Clifton using a trolley.

Hotel owner Mohammed Ali said they broke the door of the building and when they could not break into the safe they loaded it onto a trolley and took it with them.

The thieves appear to have targeted the cash and showed no interest in taking any other goods from the bar.  Mr Ali said: “I’m gutted – and also disgusted that it was so easily done.”

A police spokesman said: “The incident happened at some point between 11pm on Monday, April 18 and 6.30am on Tuesday, April 19.

“Anyone with information about this break in or who saw anything suspicious in the area around that time is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.”
