MORAY TOURISM BUSINESSES are being offered an opportunity to improve their online presence and digital skills through a range of one-to-one workshops.

Hosted by Moray Speyside Tourism, the practical lessons being held over the next few months will help local business involved in the Tourism industry to hone their online skills.

The first of the sessions – “Digital Technologies Update for Tourism” – is being held on Wednesday, September 28 at Eight Acres Hotel, Elgin from 9.30am until 12.30pm.

This workshop provides a solid introduction to social media channels, (such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Periscope & Snapchat) and the opportunities they provide to the tourism sector.

This session will assist attendees in becoming digitally transformative to increase their customer engagement.

The event will also cover the impact of mobile on consumer’s digital expectations, the importance of excellent design and content to generate engagement and the importance of developing a digital methodology and strategy for your business.

Digital Tourism Scotland is a partnership of seven Scottish organisations – Business Gateway, Scottish Government, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Tourism Alliance, Skills Development Scotland, and Visit Scotland. Digital Tourism Scotland (DTS) – who aim to provide a range of services to businesses involved within the tourism sector, by introducing them to new digital opportunities which drive marketing and customer engagement to create a unique consumer experience online.

A paper produced by Moray Speyside Tourism for Highland and Islands Enterprise highlighted that in 2015, more than 700,000 visitors came to Moray Speyside, contributing £105m to the local economy.

Visit Scotland report that 68% of visitors to the area begin their journey online, further highlighting the importance of local businesses developing their digital media presence to meet expectations from potential consumers.
