ONE OF SCOTLAND’S most popular winter sports hopes to grow the number of those participating in Moray by offering a chance to try it out for themselves.
Curling is a national pastime that provides a game of strategy that can be played and enjoyed by people of all ages and fitness levels.
It also happens to be a great way of meeting people in an enjoyable social setting while providing a means of exercising, staying active – and having a lot of fun along the way.
The Moray Province Curling Development Group (MPCDG) along with the Moray Leisure Centre are providing the chance for all who wish to try the sport by going along to a “Try Curling Session” on Tuesday, November 22 when they can learn just what it is all about.
Equipment will be provided and all that is asked is that you bring along a pair of clean trainers as stones, mud and anything else could get stuck in the sole of a shore and needs to be kept off the ice.
Reminding people that Curling involves Ice, a spokesman said: “You may also want to wear warm clothing – but jeans are not appropriate as you will need trousers that can stretch a little!
“There is not long-term commitment involved – it will be up to our first-timers to decide if they enjoy the session enough that they wish to come back for more.”
Following the initial experience session there is the opportunity to take up four-weeks of ‘beginner sessions’ where much more information will be passed on about participating in the sport.
Sessions are being held on November 22 at 5pm and 5.30pm – for further information and to book places (essential) contact 01309 672023.
