POLICE IN MORAY issued a note of thanks to the general public for their assistance as a man appeared in court facing a sexual assault charge.
Gregorz Burzawa, 33, appeared in private at Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday where he made no plea and was released on bail.
Burzawa, who is from Elgin, has been accused of raping a woman in her 30s at the junction of Meadow Crescent and Murray Street, New Elgin.
The charge follows extensive police enquiries following the alleged attack at around 10pm on July 27 last year.
Door to door enquiries were conducted in the area and more than 400 people were interviewed.
Ahead of Thursday’s court appearance Detective Chief Inspector Colin Morrans, of the North East Division’s public protection unit, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for all information and assistance provided to us throughout this inquiry to date.”
