Growth of local Job Clubs prompts call for assistance

THE POPULARITY OF Moray Council Libraries Service ‘Job Clubs’ has prompted a renewed call for volunteers to help Jobseekers in the region return to the workplace.

Five clubs exist in Moray – at Elgin, Buckie, Forres, Keith and Lossiemouth – all providing people wity the opportunity to meet others who are also looking for work.

The clubs help them build new contacts, share experiences and gain advice on filling job applications, preparing their CVs and potential volunteering opportunities that would help in gaining experience.

A libraries service spokesman said: “Research shows that the best way to find another job is through friends, family or social networks, which is why it is so vital to have a local job club.
“We are looking for more volunteers to support the job clubs and we would encourage anyone who is interested to get in touch.”

The job club at Elgin library meets from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, at Buckie from 1.30pm to 4pm on Tuesday, at Forres from 2pm to 4pm on Monday, at Keith from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Friday and at Lossiemouth from 2pm to 5pm on Friday.

Anyone who would like more information, about either attending or volunteering, should contact Elgin library on 01343 562603.
