ELGIN TOWN HALL is to host an event that seeks to promote ‘positive mental health’ as part of the forthcoming Mental Health Awareness Week.
A ‘Conversation Café’ is to be created on Thursday, May 11 aimed at anyone who has a professional or personal interest in mental health, wellbeing and recovery.
That would include those who have experience of mental health challenges and those who care for people who have experienced mental health problems. I it also hoped to attract those who are involved in delivering services that support people to recover from their mental health problems.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about how people can recover from mental health problems and live a good life, and will be able to try out tools that help people manage their own mental health and wellbeing.
They can also discuss their own experiences of mental health problems and how they manage their own wellbeing or find out more about the support that is available for people experiencing distress or mental health problems.
An outcome of the event will be to help inform the future development of mental health and wellbeing services in Moray.
Free to attend, the Conversation Café is being held on Thursday, May 11 from 10.30am till 3.30pm. During the day there will be presentations, discussion groups, information stalls, taster sessions, workshops. There will also be free entertainment and food and refreshments.
People can register to attend the event online or by e-mailing robert.stevenson@scottishrecovery.net.
