ONE OF THE BUSIEST roads in Elgin is to be closed to traffic for two days at the end of this month to allow Network Rail to install new signalling.
The level crossing at the Wards will be closed from 8am to 8pm on Saturday, April 29 and again on Sunday, April 30.
Diversions are to be put in place via Wards Road, Station Road, New Elgin Road and Edgar Road, while access to business premises at the Wards will be possible via Edgar Road – but not Wards Road.
A spokesman said: “The closure of the level crossing will enable Network Rail and their contractor BAM Nuttall to install services in connection with new signalling. Due to the noisy nature of the works, nightshift working was discounted to reduce disturbance to nearby residents.
“The closure on April 29 and 30 will be a precursor to further trackside work by Network Rail which will necessitate another closure of the level crossing from 11pm on Friday, May 26 until 6am on Tuesday, May 30.”
Anyone requiring further information regarding the railway works should e-mail aberdeeninverness@networkrail.co,uk or call the Network Rail national helpline on 03457 114141.
