Moray kids bowl them over at regional sports event

DISABLED MORAY YOUNGSTERS have been celebrating after taking Gold and Silver at a regional Boccia tournament for the second time.

Holly McWilliam, 12 and from Keith, took the gold medal in the Grampian-wide competition held at the Aberdeen Sports Village recently.

Her opponent in the final was Elgin 11-year-old Daniel Strong who this time had to settle for silver. The pair both belong to the Milne’s Disability Sport Club.

Two years ago the pair also met in the final – unfortunately for Daniel, he had to give way then to Holly as well!

Boccia is a sport similar to bowls and forms a major part of the club weekly session at the Milne’s High School in Fochabers (held on Mondays from 5.30pm until 7pm). The sessions are open to primary and secondary pupils with others sports available including basketball, tennis, golf and athletics.

Spaces are currently available at the club so school age youngsters who might be interested are welcome to go along and have a look.

Further information on the club and its activities is available by calling Moray Council Active Schools coordinator Hein Mijzen on 07966 120516 or Email to hein.mijzen@moray.gov.uk.
