DESIRE TO PROMOTE the work being done in Moray by the children’s outdoor activities charity Earthtime led to a visit by a Scottish Government minister on the Duffus Estate.
Richard Lochhead MSP invited the Scottish Government’s minister for Childcare and Early Years, Mark McDonald, to visit Earthtime’s Outdoor Nursery.
The Moray MSP was keen that the minister should see for himself the work being done in Moray – and provide Earthtime with a chance to brief Mr McDonald on their plans for the future.
Mr Lochhead and Mr McDonald joined the kids for breakfast on the last day before the summer holidays, with their visit coinciding with an open day to raise funds for expanding the nursery.
Following the visit Mr Lochhead said: “I was absolutely delighted to join the Childcare and Early Years Minister on his visit to Earthtime, where we enjoyed some excellent French toast cooked over the fire.
“After meeting with Earthtime earlier in the year, I invited the Minister to visit Earthtime to see the excellent work they’re doing locally and the fantastic outdoor education they’re providing kids in Moray
“Earthtime really is leading the way, providing kids with real opportunities to learn and develop in an outdoor environment, and encouraging them to connect to with nature from a very young age. They’re doing a great job and I’m thrilled they got the chance to show the Minister what they’re doing and to tell him about their plans for the future.”
