A NEW CARE COMPLEX is to be built in Moray providing over 40 flats that includes 30 care units for older people who have “complex needs”.
Hanover Scotland has revealed their £7.25million plan to build the new complex at Hamilton Gardens in Elgin with completion expected in 2019.
The complex will include 14 homes for “more active people” who nevertheless still require additional care or support. The housing association is now advertising for contractors to bid for work on the project.
The new project is the third of its kind undertaken by Hanover in Moray – they opened Varis Court in Forres last year while their Linkwood View complex in Elgin will be opened in a few months.
The association’s director of asset management, Mark Farey, said: “Close partnership working with the Council and Health and Social Care Moray has identified the need for a new model of housing in the area.
“This has the flexibility to provide extra care for older people – in total, the development will consist of 30 extra care units and 14 amenity units. The latter are intended for more active people with care or support needs.
“Every flat is designed for flexible use and to maximise the use of space, each will be economical to heat.”
