SEVERAL ACQUISITIVE CRIMES have led to a 34-year-old being charged and making a subsequent appearance in Elgin Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
The charges relate to housebreaking, theft and attempted thefts in the Elgin area over the last week, when a number of items were taken from residences and commercial premises including power tools, a torch and a lawnmower.
Liam Cameron, 34 and from Elgin, has appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court where he made no plea and was remanded in custody.
PC Rosanagh Davison, who led the enquiry, said: “We would like to thank members of the pubic for their assistance while these enquiries were carried out. We continue to urge residents to report any suspicious activity they see in their neighbourhood.
“We are also urging the public to ensure their homes, vehicles and any outbuildings are always locked and secure. Any valuables should be stored out of sight to prevent offering a temptation for opportunistic thieves.
“I would ask anyone with concerns or who is offered the items for sale that they have concerns as to where they have come from to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
