Officers in Moray are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Forres in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at around 2.15am on Sunday 20 January on the High Street in Forres near to the ‘Speedy Pepper’ takeaway food outlet.

As a result, a 26 year old man was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin with minor injuries.

PC Jamie Barclay said: “I understand that the high street was busy with members of the public at the time of this incident and so it was undoubtedly witnessed by bystanders.

“I am particularly keen to trace two females who were seen attempting to intervene and prevent the assault.

“The first female is described as being aged between 45-65 years old with short grey hair, wearing glasses and dark coloured clothing.

“The second female is described as being aged between 35 and 45 years old with shoulder length brown hair and was seen to be wearing a blue or green anorak with a fur lined hood.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident or suggestions as to the identity of the two females mentioned is asked to contact officers at the Elgin Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit by calling 101 and quoting reference number 0550 of 20 January.”
