FOUR MORAY AIRMEN have taken to the golf course as part of Macmillan Cancer Care’s ‘Longest Day’ golf challenge this week.
The RAF Lossiemouth firefighters played four rounds at the Kinloss Country Club back-to-back – starting their first round at 5am in uniform before changing into regular golf attire to complete the 20-mile march over the golf course.
SAC David Small organised the team, who are based at the Kinloss Barracks Relief Landing Ground, leading the four on their 16 hour golf challenge. He said: “Macmillan Cancer Care is a charity we were really happy to support.
“We are all keen golfers, and four rounds might not sound like too difficult a challenge, but the weather was against us with some pretty atrocious rain in the morning.
“Kinloss Country Club kept us supplied with food and drink throughout the day so their support really helped. Davey Hall played the best shot of the day, but we didn’t beat any of our own best scores!
“If anyone still wants to donate to MacMillan they can do so through our Just Giving page. We’ve raised a good few hundred pounds so far but any further donation would be gratefully received.”
Joining David on the marathon game was SAC Kevin Ball and Sergeant’s Jamie Sutherland and Davey Hall.
