AN ART EXHIBITION organised by a Moray primary school helped to raise well over £550 for one of Scotland’s leading military veteran charities.
Pupils from Portgordon Primary School’s years 5 and 6 presented a cheque for £575.66 recently to Michael Parkes from Erskine Care Homes.
The cash was raised at the recent Portgordon VE Celebrations – and was gratefully received by Buckie loon Michael, who has only this year been appointed as the North of Scotland head of fundraising for Erskine. Prior to his new job, Michael had worked with the Maggie Centres.
Michael said: “Erskine are now diversifying into the provision of physio, speech therapy and counselling as well as helping our young veterans back from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is donations such as these that help us meet the growing demands for our services.”
The Portgordon pupils prepared an art exhibition relating to the Second World War that had been put on display at the Lampie Hoose and Village Hall.
