PEOPLE OF ALL AGES are being encouraged to take part in an event this Autumn aimed at serious athletes, fun runners – or just those seeking to embark on a new fitness regime.
The ‘LossieThon’ is to be run over the half-marathon distance of 13.1 miles over a route that will start and finish in Lossiemouth.
Organised by members of XV(R) Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth, the event will form part of their centenary year efforts to raise up to £15,000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
It is the second running of the half-marathon which takes runners from the gates of the RAF base out towards Duffus and Hopeman before returning to the town along the coast, eventually passing through the centre of Lossiemouth before returning to the start point.
A spokesman said: “LossieThon is a half marathon that anyone can participate in regardless of their running abilities or age.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to achieve a goal – be that to improve your personal time or just your fitness level, or to take part to raise funds for the RAFBF – a worthy charity that maintains the welfare of our current and past servicemen and women.
“All funds raised will go to the RAFBF while everyone taking part will receive a bag that includes a RAFBF running vest, armbands and a deal more.”
The half marathon takes place at 10am on Sunday, October 18 with full details on entering the race, applications forms and regular updates available via www.lossiethon.co.uk.
