A FILM PROJECT is under way and very much on target because of the “wonderful support” it has been attracting from the Lossiemouth community.
The driving force behind the ‘Creative Visions’ project in the coastal town, Yvonne Findlay, has been overseeing a team of local youngsters in film making techniques – and the team having become a familiar sight around the town in recent weeks.
“They have been carrying out their first interviews of Lossiemouth locals who will feature in the finished project,” Yvonne told insideMoray this week, adding: “We can also now reveal that the title of the film has also been decided – ‘Lossiemouth Northern Lights’.
“The crew has been hard at work creating some wonderful animation for the film, while plans for further work on dance, original music and drama has also begun – with a great deal of fun being had along the way and a lot of new friends being made.”
Local schools have been involved in the project with vital backing being provided by Lossiemouth’s church congregations.
When complete the film will tell the story of Lossiemouth and its communities – to that end Yvonne would like to hear from anyone who may have a story to tell about the town, past and present.
Recent filming has taken place at local events such as Seafest – with more to follow. Yvonne said: “We will be out filming at the Raft Race in two weeks and are asking everyone spotting our team to give us a wave – don’t be shy!
“We will also have film making sessions at the St James’ Church Hall this week – on Monday from 6.30pm until 8.30pm, again on Wednesday from 2pm until 4pm – anyone who wishes to come along and see the work we are doing is more than welcome.”
The project will also see Music and Dance session on Monday, August 3 from 6.30pm until 8.30pm while further sessions will be held on August 10, Monday 17 and Wednesday 19 at the same times and venue, as well as 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday, August 12.
Yvonne added: “People can help with the story at ‘story book sessions’ from 3pm on Wednesday’s September 2, 9 and 16.
“Again, all welcome to come and discuss their stories for the story exhibition which will accompany the screening of the film.
“The film night/story exhibition social event will take place in the town on October 31 and November 7.”
