Forres man faced fine after Inverness hotel assault

Inverness Sheriff Court

A FORRES MAN faced a fine when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday and admitted assault in a city hotel.

Darren Gemmell from Fleurs Drive had been drinking with a friend in Inverness city centre on October 11 last year when he met two women at a nightclub.

Fiscal depute Michelle Molley told the court that he invited them back to his hotel room at the Glen Mhor, On their way there the girls were speaking with another group of young men who had believed a party was going to take place.

When they reached the hotel one of the group, John Tape, was asked to leave by Gemmell as he tried to enter his hotel room.

When he did not do so Gemmell punched him several times in the head and police were called.

Gemmell admitted the assault and was fined £375.
