A FORRES FIRM specialising in renewable technologies is in line for a prestigious national award.

Green Moray Renewables have been shortlisted in the Heating and Renewables Awards with the winner set to be announced at a ceremony in Coventry later this year.

Staff at the firm will have their fingers crossed in the Solar PV Installer of the Year award having elected to enter in that although they specialise over a number of renewable technologies.

The business is owned by husband and wife team Sharon and Graham Meacher along with business partner Craig Beverley.

Sharon said of their nomination: “It’s quite a surprise, but a nice one. Graham, who is an electrician to trade, has worked installing Solar PV systems since 2012.

“We expanded our electrical company two years ago when we realised the value of energy efficient measures for businesses and ordinary households, we have never looked back and have now expanded to include four other renewable measures.

“I am so proud of the team that we have here. It would be great to win, but to be honest, I am delighted that we have come this far.”

News of being shortlisted came in just a few days after the company learned they had secured a contract with Schneider Electric, who have been awarded the contract for the installation of the BMW electric car charging units.

Sharon said: “These last two weeks have been great for us. To be working with Schneider Electric and BMW installing these units for new hybrid vehicles really is something.”

The company has also begun investigating internships and apprenticeships and recently had a 17–year-old college student in for a few weeks of work experience.

“It is very important to us is investing in young people. We had a young lad come and work with us and we are looking at the possibility of taking him on in conjunction with him staying on at college.”

Adam Hart, sales manager with the Heating and Renewables Awards said: “The award ceremony will be a great event. In its fourth year and this year the awards have attracted our biggest ever entries.

“There are 15 categories – Green Moray Renewables are in the Solar PV installer category and on the night they could win the overall Installer of the Year award too. The event will provide an opportunity for guests to celebrate and support their industry.”
