Information on man who spoke to Forres children is sought

POLICE IN FORRES are calling for witnesses to an incident in the town last week when two young children were approached by an adult male they did not know.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm on Thursday, July 16 when the children were approached while playing in the Orchard Road care park just off Forres High Street.

They were approached and spoken to by a man in what was described as a dark coloured, medium sized car, possibly a mini, which they described as “boxy”. The description of the man was given as having short dark hair and pale skin.

Forres local policing team wish to speak to the man in order to establish the circumstances of the contact.

Inspector Grant McCutcheon said: “Police in Forres looking to trace a man in relation to incident reported to have occurred by Forres High Street. “The youngsters told their mum that they had been approached and spoken to by a stranger and, naturally, she is left wondering why.

“There is no reason to think that there was anything untoward in the contact, but we would, nevertheless, like to speak to the man in order to satisfy ourselves that the contact was innocuous.

“If you were in the car park at that time, think you know who the man is, or think you might be the man, then we would be grateful if you would contact us.”

The Forres Local Policing Team can be contacted by calling 101, or if you would like to remain anonymous, you can do so by passing information via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
