A SPEYSIDE DISTILLERY is to host a display of work created by a group of international artists who have been their live-in guests throughout the summer.

Each year William Grant and Sons support the Arts by providing a home for a group of sculptors, painters and multimedia artists at the Glenfiddich Distillery.

The ‘Artists in Residence’ programme at the companies Dufftown base offers an opportunity for talent from around the world to spend three months on site, taking inspiration from the local area in their work which is then presented at an exhibition.

Artists from China, Taiwan and Spain were joined this year by the Aberdeen-based sculptor Ben Martin – and between them they have produced work inspired by such as the Dufftown to Keith railway and a performance by Highland dancers in some local woodland.

Curator of the scheme, Andy Fairgrieve, said: “Our international artists have found the distillery and its beautiful surrounding countryside to be a well of inspiration.

Over 100 artists from 20 countries have attended the scheme since it was first launched in 2002. The 2015 exhibition of their work will be opened in the distillery gallery at 6.30pm on Friday, July 24.

The artists whose work will be appearing this year are Ben Martin (Scotland), Arturo Alcazar (Mexico), Chang Huei Ming (Taiwan), Daniel Munoz (Spain), Han Seok Hyun (Korea), Jon Sasaki (Canada), Krupa Makhija (India) and Su Chang (China).
