Morning raid by vandals wrecks local bus stop

VANDALS HAVE CAUSED around £500 worth of damage to a bus shelter in Elgin prompting a police appeal for information.

A group of children were seen nearby the shelter on Duffus Road close to the Spynie Hospital and police believe that they may have information that would assist identifying the culprits.

The group of youngsters – thought to be around 12-years-old – have been described by police who are investigating the damage which included two of the shelter windows being completely smashed.

Commenting that the incident happened at around 8.40am on Tuesday morning, local police constable Jamie Walker said: “We are appealing to the public to contact us if they have any information.

“We are particularly keen to trace a group of children aged roughly 12 and under who were seen nearby at the time of the incident. One was wearing a red top, one a blue top, one with a yellow top and another with a dark top and dark shorts.

“They may have information that could assist us with our inquiries – anyone with information is asked to call 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if they wish to remain anonymous.”
