ELGIN CITY WILL believe they have a very real chance of making it to a national cup semi-final after they were drawn to take on fellow League 2 side Queens Park in the Petrofac Training Cup draw this afternoon.
The Moray side pulled off one of their biggest victories ever when they defeated Championship side Alloa 2-0 away from home last night to earn their place in the quarter final draw.
City were last out of the hat – and are drawn to play Queens Park at Hampden Park. Other ties will see St Mirren taken on Dunfermline, Rangers will play fellow Championship side Livingston while Peterhead will be at home to Stenhousemuir.
Elgin have enjoyed a sparkling start to the season with wins in their opening two league games leaving the side with a two-point lead in the Ladbroke’s League 2. City started their season with a 3-2 home win over Stirling Albion in the Petrofac Training Cup, with their only setback coming in the Scottish League Cup when they lost 5-0 to Championship side Morton.
