AN INFORMATION DIRECTORY aimed primarily at providing information to over-50s on services available in and around Forres will be dropping through letter boxes from Monday.
The directory has been released by Forres Area Community Trust (FACT) and was created using information provided by the community councils in Forres and Kinloss, the Forres Area Forum, Findhorn over-60’s and the Forres OAP association as well FACT.
A working group that included representatives from Age Scotland, NHS Grampian and Moray Council also assisted in the creation of the new directory, which stemmed from the Spirit of Community event held in October last year.
The directory was welcomed by Findhorn resident Jo Camplin, who said “This directory will be really useful and finding information about what’s on and if I need to contact a service for help.
“Although there is a lot of information online sometimes it is handy to have it in print too.”
Unveiled at the Community Café in Forres House at the end of last month, the directory will be delivered to all homes in the IV36 postcode area between Monday and Friday next week.
FACT Director Lorna Creswell said: “We hope that this pilot directory will be well received and be of use to everyone, not just those over 50, but their families and friends too.
“We look forward to finding out what you think and any suggestions you may have for the future.”
Funding for the publication was awarded following a grant application in 2014 to the Reshaping Care for Older People change fund through tsiMoray.
Further copies of the directory will also be available from the FACT office at 1 Leask Road, Forres Library, the Health Centre, Auchernack House and electronically on the FACT website.
