FAMILY AND FRIENDS of those who have suffered a stroke are being invited to attend a fledgling support group in Moray.
Elgin Stroke Friends (ESF) is a support group for anyone who has had a stroke, their family and carers.
An independent support group which has been affiliated to Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS), ESF is supported by volunteers who have themselves came together through personal experiences of the effects of a stroke.
Caroline Peter, who is community support project worker for CHSS North East, said: “Stroke is the major cause of disability throughout Scottish communities with over 13,000 people affected by stroke in North East Scotland.
“In Moray alone more than 1319 people are living with the effects of this condition.”
ESF meetings are held on alternative Friday’s from 10am until 12noon at the Moray Resources Centre in Elgin. Anyone wishing to volunteer or who requires further information on the group should call Caroline on 07918 674481 or by email to caroline.peter@chss.org.uk.
