ONE OF MORAY’S leading charities is hoping that people are up for having a ball – in this case involving nothing more strenuous than sitting down for dinner in good company.
The CLAN Moray Ball has been organised at the Eight Acres Hotel in Elgin on Saturday, October 3 – a two-course dinner with entertainment laid on and the chance to spend a few hours in excellent company – and all with the added bonus of knowing that you are helping support those who suffer cancer in Moray.
CLAN’s area services coordinator Tracy Sellar said: “We have a guest speaker who is 18 and has used CLAN services for the past 18 months since her diagnosis.
“She is a remarkable young woman who has raised a lot of money for us by jumping out of an aeroplane despite having lost most of her eyesight.
“We will be having an auction with items including a four-ball at Balmoral and a garden tour at Birkhall Estate, Balmoral for ten people.
“We hope to raise a few thousand pounds by holding the ball with all proceeds going to support people affected by cancer in Moray.”
CLAN Moray opened for the first time in July 2013 and has since built up an amazing range of services for cancer sufferers and their families in the region. Their drop-in centre on Elgin High Street offers support, complementary therapies, counselling, children and families service.
There is also a men’s drop-in group who meet every Tuesday evening and a ladies group who meet the fourth Friday of each month.
Tracy said: “We have 20 listening and support volunteers who receive 3 days training plus ongoing training and support but desperately need more.
“We are open Monday to Friday and also have a drop in service at Moray Coast Medical Centre in Lossiemouth every Thursday 1pm-4pm.”
Tickets for the Ball cost just £50 per person and are available now by contacting Tracy at tracy.sellar@clanhouse.org.
