SPECIAL NEEDS PUPILS in Moray are in need of assistance – in particular in the Forres area.
Moray Council say they are in need of more people who are prepared to accompany vulnerable children to and from their schools.
A pool of escorts is already employed by the local authority and are helping to ensure that pupils who have additional support needs get to and from school safely. However, more are required to act as back-ups in cases of absence or illness.
Transportation manager at Moray Council, Nicola Moss, explained: “Many pupils with special needs are carried on minibuses or by taxi and in many cases they required to be accompanied by an escort.
“At the moment we have a shortage of relief escorts who we can call on, particularly in the Forres area.”
Anyone who may be interested in become a relief escort is being invited to discuss the requirements with staff at the public transport unit on 01343 563803.
