TWO MORAY MEN have been arrested and are expected to appear in court today following a major crackdown on domestic abuse in the region.

The arrests were made in Buckie and Forres of the men aged 27 and 19 on Thursday as part of an exercise that saw police visit 25 addresses throughout the north east.

Heading the operation was Detective Inspector Neil Campbell who said: “Domestic abuse covers a variety of behaviours and is not limited exclusively to physical abuse – it can include sexual abuse, emotional abuse and controlling behaviour.

“Most domestic abuse occurs in isolation in the confines of the home and routinely is not independently witnessed, but suffering behind closed doors should not and cannot be ignored.

“The message is clear – we will tackle all kinds of domestic abuse that that it will not be tolerated in any form.”
