Doors open for coffee, tea and cakes with MP and MSP

COFFEE, TEA, CAKES – and perhaps even the chance to have a good moan in the ear of our representatives at Westminster and Holyrood and their staff.

That is the menu for a couple of hours at least when the Moray Parliamentary Office of Angus Robertson MP and Richard Lochhead MSP throws its doors open to one and all.

Staff at the joint Elgin base for Moray’s parliamentarians are throwing the doors open as part of the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, with all proceeds going to cancer charity Macmillan.

Attending between 2pm and 4pm on Monday, September 21 at 9 Wards Road in Elgin will be Angus Robertson MP, who said: “Pretty much everyone has a friend or relative who has either suffered from or died from cancer.

“It is so important for cancer sufferers and those close to them to get the best support and Macmillan make a huge contribution to cancer care.

“I am delighted that our Parliamentary Office is able to take part this year and folks are very welcome to pop along when coffee, tea and cakes will be available, with all proceeds going to Macmillan.

“There are also dozens of other individuals and organisations across Moray hosting similar events in the coming fortnight and I would encourage people to go along to one – or several – if you possibly can!

“The work done by volunteers to raise money for Macmillan through these events is fantastic whether it is organising them, baking the cakes or serving up the coffee.”

This year is the 25th birthday of Macmillan’s annual coffee morning – to find out more about the charity and how to register your own event visit www.coffee.macmillan.org.uk, call 0845 602 1246 or text COFFEE to 88080.
