WORK IN MORAY by a leading cancer support charity has been recognised at a distinguished business awards ceremony.

CLAN Cancer Support received the award as top charity, voluntary or community group at the Elgin Town Centre Business Awards.

Hosted by Elgin BID the awards were decided by a public vote that saw CLAN praised for their work throughout Moray centred on its support and wellbeing centre in Elgin.

Tracy Sellar, CLAN’s Moray area co-ordinator, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to collect this award at what has established itself as an important event in the business calendar in Elgin.

“Over the last two years, we’ve been working tirelessly to help establish CLAN within the town and surrounding region and this award is testament to the hard work and determination shown by all CLAN employees, volunteers, fundraisers and supporters in helping make the charity and its services such a success.

“The warmth shown by the people of Moray towards CLAN never fails to amaze us and we look forward to continuing to grow our presence within the region in the months and year ahead.”

The charity only established its Moray base two years ago and quickly established a variety of complementary therapies and a dedicated children and family support service. They have a men’s group meeting every Tuesday evening and on the first Thursday of each month while a ladies group meeting on the fourth Friday each month.

CLAN operated from 227 High Street in Elgin and provide a free support and information service from the Moray Coast Medical Practice in Lossiemouth every Thursday afternoon.
