A SIX-TON DUMPER truck being used for work on a windfarm in Moray has gone missing – sparking a police appeal for information on its whereabouts.
The bright yellow Thwaites vehicle vanished from the site at Edingight about eight miles from Keith at some point between 10am on Monday, September 28 and 5pm on Wednesday, September 30.
While the turbine on the site was put in place by the middle of last month the truck remained on site as work around it continued. The dumper, registration SF64 OKG, was on hire for several weeks to be used in building work around the single-turbine site.
Investigating the disappearance is Constable Rory Fraser, who said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or unusual in the area and asking them to contact us.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered the digger for sale. At this time we would remind people living in rural areas that they need to take simple steps to deter thieves – including locking, securing and alarming their property.
“They should also take advantage of crime prevention measures such as lighting, security marking and monitoring services.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 or via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
