FOR THOSE DREAMING of a white Christmas in Moray the only real hope is to head for high ground with Tomintoul offering an outside chance.
While temperatures have been noticeably falling in the last few days the Met Office is holding out little by way of cheer for snow-chasers this festive season.
“Snow is most likely on higher ground – I think Moray will be most favoured and perhaps the west of the Highlands,” a spokesman said.
Temperatures on Christmas Day for most parts of Moray are expected to hover between 3c and 6c – and the nearest most will come to a White Christmas may be a little ground frost first thing on the morning of Christmas Day.
The spokesman said: “For most places in Moray, Christmas day will start dry and bright although there may be rain spreading north towards the evening and into Boxing Day – it is then that there is most likely to be snow on higher ground.”
