TWO CHARITIES HAVE shared the proceeds of a special whisky bottling created to celebrate the 75th anniversary of RAF Lossiemouth.
Local spirits retailer and whisky distillers Gordon & Macphail produced just 300 bottles of a 21-year-old Speyside single malt to commemorate the base existence at Lossiemouth, serving both the RAF and the Royal Navy in that time.
As the celebration year comes to an end, all the bottles have been sold with the final bottle – No.1 – raising £220 in an online auction.
Now the Oaks Palliative Care centre in Elgin and the RAF Benevolent Fund have been presented with cheques of £1600 each as a result of the sales.
Part of the team co-ordinating the sale of the whisky, Mrs Diane Brown, said: “The 75th anniversary whisky was popular with ex-service personnel as well as local aviation enthusiasts and whisky drinkers.
“It was very generous of Gordon & MacPhail to support our fundraising for the RAF Benevolent and The Oaks.
“Both of these charities provide much needed support to people in need and their families.”
