Armed Forces Day – funding help up to £10,000 available to communities wishing to hold events

COMMUNITIES IN MORAY wishing to host their own town or village Armed Forces Day celebrations could be eligible for funding from the Ministry of Defence.

Armed Forces Day has been held in several Moray towns on a rotation basis each year – however, the 2015 event hosted in Keith was the last time that Moray Council would organise Moray’s official Armed Forces Day celebration.

From this year open days at Moray’s military bases are expected to take over – however, local communities wishing to hold their own tributes on or around Saturday, June 25 are being invited to bid for up to £10,000 to assist in their plans.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: “Funding is available to anyone who wants to host an event – from city-wide parades and local fetes, to smaller neighbourhood get-togethers. Organisers can bid for up to £10,000 to help make their event, large or small, a success.”

To find out more about the application process and funding criteria, contact the Ministry of Defence Armed Forces Day team by email at armedforcesday-events@mod.uk or by telephone on 020 7807 0970.

Anyone interested in applying for funding should submit an application by March 26.
