HARD HIT SHOPKEEPERS along a Speyside high street face several more month before the disruption that has blighted business since May last year comes to an end.
Road works along Aberlour High Street were only supposed to take a few months – however, a series of problems has saw the path to local shops blocked for eight months.
Now Bear Scotland say that installation of a new road drainage system has now been completed – allowing a new water mains to be put in place before the works finally coming to an end.
However, engineer for Aberlour Improvements, Mark Turner, has said that it may be some months yet before the works are fully completed. He said: “We have done all we can to keep disruption at a minimum and keep the local community as informed as possible every step of the way during our improvements.
“We will continue liaising closely with the community in the coming months to determine the best way to proceed with these works once Scottish Water have replaced their mains, as we want to keep disruption to a minimum.”
