BOWLERS IN BUCKIE are celebrating after their club was granted almost £10,000 to fit new windows and a door to their clubhouse.

The Buckie Victoria Bowling Club was revealed as one of the latest recipients of ‘Awards for All’ lottery grants from the Big Lottery Fund.

In partnership with sportScotland, Awards for All provides grants of between £500 and £10,000 for projects that “aim to help and improve local communities and the lives of people most in need”.

Buckie Victoria’s grant revealed this week provides £9260 from the fund, with local MSP Stewart Stevenson saying: “I am delighted that Buckie Victoria Bowling Club have been granted this funding from Awards for All so that they can improve their facilities.

“There are a diverse number of sports groups such as this one across Banffshire & Buchan Coast providing a wealth of opportunities for keeping active and socialising, as well as sporting activities for all ages. I wish the club well for the future.”

An Awards for All spokesperson, added: “We fund a range of projects which involve bringing local people together, helping people learn, improving local spaces and getting people more active.“
