BUCKIE HIGH SCHOOL pupils who organised a coffee morning to raise funds in support of Syrian refugee families in Moray are expressing their delight at raising over £1000.

Pupils at the school formed the ‘Make A Difference’ (MAD) group with a determination to do just that – make a difference on a raft of community issues.

For their coffee morning held last Saturday they saw a steady stream of customers to the Buckie South and West Street Hall, all enjoying a chat and cuppa.

A spokeswoman for the group said: “The MAD group members were all absolutely overwhelmed with the response to the coffee morning and had several donations that helped them reach over £1000.

“There was plenty of support from parents and teachers to hand – but they pupils worked really well as a team.

“They were overwhelmed by the donations they received for their bake sale which went down very well indeed – but the bottom line for them was that they managed to make a very real difference for a local charity.”
