A MORAY WOMAN is taking fundraising to a very personal level by inviting people to her home for a cuppa and some home baking.

For the past 14 years Mary Kinnaird has been a patient at Dr Gray’s Hospital in the Renal Unit to receive dialysis treatment – and now she is aiming to pay back just some of the outstanding dedication she has received from staff at the Moray unit.

The Dr Gray’s unit is regarded as a ‘satellite’ from the main unit for north east patients at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and can provide dialysis treatment to eight patients at a time as well as providing two consultant clinics each month.

“I decided to do something for the unit when I noted that last month was Kidney Awareness Month” Mary, who is from Lossiemouth, told insideMoray. She added: “While I always try to educate people about kidney disease, I thought that if I had one event this would perhaps give more focus to the cause.”

‘At Home with Mary’ will be held on Thursday, April 21 at her home on 21 Woodland Walk in Lossiemouth from 10am until 4pm.

Mary said: “We will be easy to spot as we will have balloons tied to the front and back gates. I have a wee band of helpers and now the word is out I have had lots of offers of support from loans of tea services to baking to raffle prizes – so far 40 of these have been donated!”
